14 Mar A Plane with a new body that look old.
Given how quickly the round bottom project came together I decided to turn an old plane I’d made into something more useful. With no sense of sentiment a saw and rasp were unleashed upon it to create this Frankenplane.
Usually I’m meticulous when making things with every surface needing to be smooth and every corner crisp, but in this case it was rough from start to finish and a very enjoyable alternative. This is a roughing tool, a blade that’s 6mm thick and a wide mouth means I can take shavings that look like strips of cardboard…
It seems almost unfair to use it on a willow cricket bat.
